Overview

The League Cup is an annual knockout football competition in Singapore contested by all 12 S.League clubs. It was launched in 2007 as the third major domestic trophy, together with the S.League Championship and the Singapore Cup.
Woodlands Wellington won the inaugural League Cup, defeating Sengkang Punggol 4-0 in the final. A year later, Gombak United saw off Super Reds 2-1 to lift the trophy. The present holders are Brunei DPMM, whose penalty shootout triumph over Singapore Armed Forces FC guaranteed them success in their maiden League Cup campaign.
This year, the top four clubs in the 2009 S.League standings have been handed a bye to the quarter-final stage, while the remaining eight clubs will be paired up in a single-elimination format with the four winners progressing to the quarter-final stage.
The 2010 League Cup Final is scheduled for Sunday 7 March at Jalan Besar Stadium.
